-- NanoMission Game Series

A series of three downloadable nanotechnology education games.  Two are also available in Japanese.  The download takes about 5 minutes and results in a fully executable file that can be transported from computer to computer without requiring installation.  Games include:
1. "NanoScaling" enables players to visualize and understand spatial relationships between objects ranging from giga-meters (diameter of the sun) all the way down to pico-meters, the diameter of hydrogen and other atoms.
2. "NanoImaging" sends players on an exciting mission to image (using SEM technology), identify and destroy dangerous organisms that are destroying the world’s lakes and rivers. 
3. "NanoMedicine" takes gamers on a nanoscale adventure though the human body to efficiently kill deadly cancer cells without harming healthy tissues. Millions of red blood cells and antibodies need to be avoided along the way!

-- Duckboy in Nanoland

Explore how properties change at the nanoscale in this adventure presented by the Museum of Science, London.  While this game is designed more for younger kids, older students report it is fun to play and interesting to see how properties are impacted by the nanoscale. Each ride begins at normal scale, but then reduces to the nano level where behaviors can change in unexpected ways!

-- Virtual Microscope

The Virtual Microscope is a NASA-funded project that provides simulated scientific instrumentation for students and researchers worldwide as part of NASA's Virtual Laboratory initiative.  The instrumentation includes a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Light Microscope, Atomic Force Microscope, and an Energy Dispersive Spectrometer for the SEM. Examine real specimens using sets of images systematically photographed at hundreds of positions and several magnifications.  Users can zoom in on the most minute detail of each specimen. Software will run on Windows, Mac, or UNIX. Step by step instructions simplify installation. The free download comes with three reference images but many more can be accessed free of charge within the software.
